Nevsha village Varna BG

Nevsha is  a village in north-eastern Bulgaria, part of Vetrino municipality, Varna region. It is located 52 km away from the city of Varna, 17 km away from Novi Pazar, 25 km away from Provadiya and 1 km away from Varna-Sofia highway. The population  is approximately 600 people. The relief is  hilly as the area is famous with the great number of bizarre rock formations and caves. The climate is temperate-continental with distinguished four seasons the beauty of each only adds to the charm of the area's unique scenery. Altitude - 135 m.

history

The legend has it that the village was named after a beautiful Bulgarian lass - Nyagusha. During the Ottoman Domination a local Turkish noble fell in love with her and decided to marry her against her will. To avoid the disgrace the young woman sacrificed her life by jumping off a high rock near the village. Touched by her brave act the locals decided to name their village after her - Nyagusha. As time went by the name of the village has changed and today it is Nevsha.

In Nevsha there is a kindergarten, a community center with a library and many clubs /a women's group of folklore singing, a children's dancing ensemble, a group for Christmas carols and dances, a group for old city songs/, food stores, a restaurant, a post office, a doctor's office, a railway station, an agricultural production  co-operation, a petrol-station.
Provadiyska river is passing near the village and within 15-20 km away from the village there are many dam-lakes stocked with fish.
The access to the village is easy and convenient. The village is supplied with water and electricity. All communications are available - telephone, satelite TV and internet. Regular public transportation is available to the city of Varna and the nearby villages. Nevsha provides its inhabitants a unique possibility to enjoy a quiet and peaceful living among  beautiful nature less than a 30-minute drive away from the sea capital of Bulgaria - Varna.
The locals are engaged into agriculture - production of vegetables, vine-growing and stock-breeding. Many of the local inhabitants are commuting to Varna.
Nevsha offers its guests various opportunities for rural and eco-tourism, hiking, fishing and hunting. The hills surrounding the village provide excellent conditions for paragliding, climbing and other extreme sports.

  • The village of Nevsha has the most picturesque location among all the villages in Vetrino municipality. Near the railway station, along the gorge of Provadiyska river there are a great number of bizarre  rock formations and  2 medieval rock monasteries - Golyamoto Eleme and Malkoto Eleme. Small springs among the rocks form beautiful, small waterfalls.

  • Dyuzata area is located 5 km away from the village. It is a protected area since it is a natural habitat of a protected bird specie - the Egyption Vulture.

  • The local tourist organization offers interesting hiking trails. They reach as far as the Nenovski waterfall and Probitiyat Kamak /the pierced stone / area near the village of Ravna, which is a protected area, as well.

  • An annual photography and fine arts art camp is being organized in Nevsha, too.

Nenovo is a village in north-east Bulgaria, part of Provadiya municiplaity, Varna region. It is located 17 km to the town of Provadiya and 73 km to the city of Varna.

The village of Nenovo is situated on a north-eastern slope covered with century-old forests. A river flows by the village. The plateau near Nenovo village (altitude of 600 m) is one of the highest plateaus in Varna region. Nenovo is surrounded by several areas covered with century old beech and oak forests and fertile arable land and pastures.
The climate is temperate-continental, influenced by the proximity of Stara Planina mountain's most eastern slopes. history

Anthropology research is in process to prove the theory that the local people are probably direct descendants of the founders of the First Bulgarian State. It is known that the village was settled by seven clans back in 1595.
A road used to pass through Boaza area (which in Bulgarian means mountain pass) and above it there was a rock monastery and a magnificent waterfall (named Svata). In the past the waterfall used to provide power for two watermills and a fulling-mill. The waters then used to water the wonderful vegetable gardens and orchards surrounding the village.  In the village there is a big water fountain with clear spring water, a food shop. A church has been preserved, as well. The roads are in a good condition. In the past Nenovo used to be one of the most lively villages in the area. Nowadays the village is quieter but has kept its charm and beauty. It is surrounded by unique nature, dense century-old forests, rocky hills, small waterfalls, clear water-spring..
The traditional occupation of the locals used to be farming (wheat, barley, maize, sunflower) and stock-breeding (cattle, sheep, goats, swine). Bee-keeping is well-developed, as well.

There are three rock monasteries in an immediate proximity to the village. Two of them are located some 3 km north to Nenovo. The first one has nine cells and is located in Sokolski Rid area, and the second one - with 15 cells is situated in Nenovski Boaz area. Some paintings are preserved in some of the cells - of human masks and a horseman. North to Nenovo, near the village of Nevsha and the highway lies the largest monastery, with 40 cells. At the foundations there is a great number of crosses and animal figures to be seen carved in the rocks.

Krivnya is a village in North-eastern Bulgaria, part of Provadia Municipality , Varna Region. It is located 30 minutes away (by Hemus highway) from the city of Varna and 10 km away from the town of Provadiya. Easy access to the International airport of Varna and Wizzair , Ryan air and Bulgaria air flights to the U.K

General information

The climate is temperate continental, with hot summers and mild winters.
The terrain is flat and hilly - plateau at an altitude of 360 m. There is a thermal spring - Ereka and a deposit of rock salt - only in the Balkans. Its population numbers to 350 people.

During the past few years some English and French and Dutch families have chosen to establish their second home in the village. The nature is exceptionally beautiful, and the dam-lake near the village attracts many fishing enthusiasts. In Krivnya there are a mayor's office, a bar, a community center, an Orthodox church, a kindergarten, several food shops and a new Ostrich farm is being built in the village.

Tourism  

On the territory of the village may be practised eco-tourism, wine, historical, cultural tourism.
There is a ready base for rural tourism, which is not well developed.
Interesting are the rock monastery Chushtkara - with preserved graffiti on rock, mud monastery St. George maintained by an inscription in Greek and others.
Nearby are drilling well Ereka and salt baths in Provadia are unique in the country. Curative baths with such influence there is only in Karlovy Vary  in the Czech Republic.
